Science

Today a man called John Pearce came to our school to teach us about science.

He taught us about atoms and molecules. I learned that electrons are made of something called “quark”. At first we had an item each in a plastic bag and had to observe and describe the object. How it felt or if it was heavy. Next we had to classify our objects by how heavy they were or if they were solid. Then we did some role play and pretended we were in a cup and that we were water trying to get out of  the cup. Finally, we got to dip our fingers into different types of sugars. In one of them you could see all the grains. The other was thicker and the last one was very thick and felt like flour. At the end we got a sugar cube each. Overall I had a fun time! 🙂

  1. Hi Peter. Sounds like you have had a great day. It’s always fun to have an interactive workshop like that at school. I’m sure you learned some very interesting facts too. Keep up the great work. 🙂

  2. This is a terrific post about our Science Incursion.
You have included some great detail and interesting facts. I hadn’t heard about quarks before either. I am so pleased that learnt so many new things from our expert.
    Keep up the great blogging!
    Mrs Gridley 🙂
